Skin Cancer Screening

The Dermatology Center of Indiana will be holding a free skin cancer screening on Friday, May 12 th from 1:30pm – 5pm and Saturday, May 13 th from 7am – 12pm at our Zionsville location, 6639 Whitestown Parkway, Zionsville, Indiana 46077. As the premier dermatology provider in Central and Western Indiana, we would appreciate the opportunity to educate the community on the importance of skin cancer screening as a means to educate, prevent, and detect the occurrence of skin cancer.

Skin cancer is defined by the American Academy of Dermatology as “an abnormal growth of skin cells. It most often develops on areas of the skin exposed to the sun’s rays. Skin Cancer affects people of all colors and races, although those with light skin who sunburn easily have a higher risk.” There are several types of skin cancer , with the most common being Basal Cell Carcinoma, or BCC, which can develop after years of frequent sun exposure or the use of indoor tanning systems. With all types of skin cancer, early diagnosis and treatment is important in order to prevent it from spreading to different areas of the body.

The Dermatology Center of Indiana was founded in 2002 by Dr. Scott Guenthner and today serves 80,000 active patients throughout Central Indiana out of its Plainfield and Zionsville offices. Dr. Guenthner and his staff of expert Physicians Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and administrators offer treatments for all medical diseases of the skin, hair, and nails, in addition to cosmetic procedures and hair restoration.
