With over 26 years of dermatology experience, Dr. Barbara Sturm brings her expertise in the areas of General Dermatology to The Dermatology Center of Indiana. Dr. Sturm, a native of Southport Indiana, is an active member in the Stones Crossing Church with her husband, who happens to be her high school sweetheart. At Stones Crossing, she serves as a teacher, youth sponsor, and she also serves as a board member of Spectrum Ministries, a Christian youth ministry located in Greenwood.
After graduating from Southport High School, Dr. Sturm went on to Purdue, where she majored in biochemistry. After graduation, she attended the Indiana University School of Medicine, where she earned her medical degree and completed her residency in dermatology. She has practiced dermatology at Community Health South, Franciscan St. Francis, and Johnson Memorial Hospital, all in the Indianapolis area. Dr. Sturm joined The Dermatology Center of Indiana in 2018.
According to Dr. Sturm, she prefers to evaluate the patient as a whole instead of just the skin condition that brought the patient into her office. Stress, illness, and bad diets can greatly affect a person’s skin and can cause rashes and other skin disorders. By taking this approach, she can create a care plan that will address any troublesome symptoms or skin conditions and the cause of the skin condition, instead of just treating the symptoms themselves. As you can see by her 4.4-star rating on vitals.com, Dr. Sturm is loved by her patients.
Along with being active in her church, Dr. Sturm enjoys spending time with her 2 children and her 4 grandchildren. In her free time, she and her husband travel, camp, and are active cyclists.
If you would like to schedule an appointment with Dr. Sturm, please call our office at 317. 300. 1788. She will be treating patients at our Center Grove location on Tuesday and Thursday 6:30am-5:00pm, and Wednesday 6:30am-12:30pm.
