We recently had the opportunity to learn more about Lexi, her approach, and the path that led her to become a board-certified physician assistant.
What made you decide to pursue a career in dermatology?
I became interested in dermatology during PA school, where I was drawn to the variety, clinical problem-solving, and ability to see visible results from treatment. I was then able to complete an elective rotation in dermatology, which solidified my enjoyment of the balance of medical management, procedures, and building long-term relationships with patients. I was lucky enough to begin my career in dermatology after graduation, and it has been incredibly rewarding to grow with my patients and care for them since.
What is your favorite aspect of being a Physician Assistant?
One of my favorite aspects of being a physician assistant is the opportunity for continued growth and lifelong learning. Medicine is constantly evolving, and I enjoy staying current, expanding my skills, and challenging myself clinically while working collaboratively with physicians. This role allows me to build lasting relationships with patients, stay hands-on in their care, and provide thoughtful, individualized treatment over time.
What is your approach to treating your patients?
My approach is centered on listening carefully, clearly explaining diagnoses and treatment options, and practicing shared decision making so patients feel informed and involved in their care. I focus on evidence-based medicine while creating realistic plans that align with each patient’s lifestyle and goals.
What is your number one tip when it comes to taking care of your skin?
Not one, but two things that go hand in hand: daily sun protection and regular skin exams! They’re the easiest ways to help prevent skin cancer and signs of aging, protect your skin, and catch concerns early.
What is one thing you want your patients to know about you?
I genuinely care about my patients and want them to feel heard and supported. I encourage questions and open communication, and I want patients to feel comfortable being honest about their concerns, goals, and expectations. My goal is to work together as a team and provide thoughtful, attentive care.
What do you like to do when you’re not in the office?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our pets, and family. I love staying active with running and golfing, and I also enjoy reading, crafting, and baking in my downtime. I’m always excited to try new hobbies, explore new places, and check out new restaurants whenever I can.
