Average Cost of Botox

“Today is the oldest you’ve ever been and the youngest you’ll ever be again.”

It’s easy to read the above quote and immediately feel panicked about getting older. You may be saying to yourself, “Thanks for the reminder that I’m getting older by the day!” But that’s not the purpose of this saying. Rather, we want patients to enjoy the process of aging and age as gracefully and healthily as possible.

Though you will never be in your 20s again, you can still have a fresh, youthful appearance that will incite compliments of “You certainly don’t look your age! What’s your secret?” After all, you’re only as young as you feel, right? Well, our goal at the Dermatology Center of Indiana is to help you feel your absolute best! Thanks to advancements in science and dermatology, it is possible to achieve and maintain smooth skin with Botox.

Everyone’s heard of Botox, but perhaps you’ve never considered it because you believe it’s too costly. Maybe you’re content with using expensive night creams and only achieving minimal results. But what if you could toss those ineffective creams in the trash and smooth fine line and wrinkles with one treatment that can last several months to a year and not break the bank?

What is Botox exactly?

Botox is the most popular cosmetic surgery treatment available today. It’s approved uses include the treatment of muscle spasms, severe underarm sweating, chronic migraine headaches, and of course, wrinkles. Botox work by reducing the activity of muscles in the face that overtime lead to fine lines and wrinkles. By blocking nerve signals to that cause muscles to contract, the injected muscle will relax and soften. This treatment option works best on dynamic wrinkles that appear when the face is in motion or making expression (like your eyebrows and forehead). On average, Botox effects will last anywhere from 2-5 months and doesn’t require any recovery time. You’ll achieve the best results if you continue with the injections.

How much is Botox?

The cost of Botox varies depending on where you live. The northeastern United States had the highest cost, whereas the western states have the lowest average cost. The cost of Botox also varies depending on the area you’re having treated and how many injections you’ll need during that appointment.

Most offices have a flat cost for each Botox injection that ranges from $350-500. Other practices will use a unit rate of $10-15 per unit, making it very clear what you’re getting. Pharmaceutical companies typically sell Botox in units of 50, 100, and 200 vial bottles. The number of units needed again depends on the area you’re treating. For example, forehead lines will require more units than crows feet.

And remember, the cost of Botox includes not only the cost of the product, but the knowledge and expertise of the dermatologist giving you the injections!
